John David Jones, age 87, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away July 26, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, FL. Graveside services will be Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery in Fernbank, AL, with military honors and Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2013, from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born December 11, 1925, in Sarasota, FL, to the late John Malone and Dacie Alderman Jones. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Jones worked at Knight & Hall Hardware Company of Tampa, FL, for many years and was a former agent of Columbus Marble Works while living in Columbus. He attended the Church of God and in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Jones. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Mullendore Jones of Sebring, FL, son, Ben Jones and his wife Mae of Woodville, FL, daughter-in-law, Faye Jones of Waverly, GA, sister, Lucille Manker of Sebring, FL, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family members and the U. S. Army Honor Guard of Fort Rucker, AL.
