GEORGE STACY - George Clinton Stacy, age 76, of Columbus, MS, died April 4, 2010, at Aurora Australis Lodge. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Curtis Bray officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Fellowship Cemetery near Mathiston, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Stacy was born July 5, 1933, in Weir, MS, to the late Charles and Mavis Tackett Stacy. He was a graduate of Weir High School and was a 10 year veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Stacy owned and managed Stacy's Exxon and Car Wash for 23 years and after leaving the service station business, he owned and operated Stacy's Produce Market on Alabama St. until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dana Grace Dobbs Stacy, son Greg Stacy, and brothers, William, Charles, and Richard Stacy. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Stacy, sons Robert Stacy of Silverdale, WA, and Daniel Stacy of Columbus, daughters, Dawn Doughty (Tommy) and Wanda Stacy, both of Columbus, step-son, Ken Hulett (Jerri) and step-daughter Marie Harrison (Mike), both of Sanderson, FL, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Doughty, Jr., Daniel Clinton Stacy, Jr., Scott Stacy, Jason Stacy, Jeremy Stacy, and Neal Bostick. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. D. F. Summerall, Thomas Doughty, Sr., Mike Harrison, Richard Miller, and the nurses and staff of Aurora Australis Lodge.
