Sylvia Miller Bush, age 90, of Steens, MS, passed away May 13, 2013, at the Care Center of Vernon, AL. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Eddie Lawson officiating and Elbert Wheat assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Steens. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Bush was born November 19, 1922, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Garmon and Ellie Smith Miller. She was a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ and enjoyed her role through the years as baby sitter and child care provider to all the children in the Lone Oak Community. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Edward Bush, Sr., sisters, Flornie Smith and Lovertis Logan, brother, Melton Miller, and grandson, Roger Bush. Survivors include her sons, Henry Edward Bush and his wife Jeannette of Vernon, AL, Luther Edward Bush, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Columbus, MS, Perry Dale Bush and his wife Nancy of Steens, MS, and Charles Dewey Bush and his wife Faye of Steens, MS, daughters, Ella Mae Bush Vaughan of Steens, MS, and Vera Christine Bush Anderson and her husband Bobby of Columbus, MS, 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Vaughan, Ricky Vaughan, Michael Bush, Josh Bush, Ronnie McDaniel, and Buz Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be David Traywick, Ben Wesley, Shawn Franks, David Singer, and members of the Lone Oak Church of Christ, and staff of the Care Center of Vernon.
