DOROTHY IPOCK - Dorothy Sanders Pearson Ipock, age 93, of Columbus, MS, died August 2, 2010, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Ron McDougald officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will also be Wednesday, August 4, 2010, from noon until service time at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Ipock was born June 30, 1917, in Starkville, MS, to the late Marshall and Pearl Hargett Sanders. She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and won the very first Spirit of Mississippi Award for her committment to her family, employers, and community. Mrs. Ipock was a former member of East End Baptist Church and a current member of Fairview Baptist Church. She worked for over 50 years for local doctors and ended her career with Doctors Baird, Dill, and Woodard of Internal Medicine & Associates. Mrs. Ipock was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Hobert Ipock, and sons, Bob Pearson of Raleigh, NC, Jimmy Pearson of Ft. Bragg, NC, and Wallace Pearson of Steens, MS. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Danny Shepherd of Roswell, GA, Juanita and Jerry McGaha of Leads, AL, Linda and Clyde Glasgow of Caledonia, MS, and Sharon and Roger Price of Vernon, AL, 16 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sean Glasgow, Shane Glasgow, Shae Glasgow, Kenny Price, Chancey Shepherd, Zack Shepherd, Jason Mattison, and Kevin Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Woodard and the staff of Trinity Healthcare. Memorials may be made to Trinity Place Retirement Community 300 Airline Rd. Columbus, MS 39702.
