On Friday morning August 23, 2013, Terry Hardy Brewer began her journey to her heavenly home. For the past 11 years, Terry has fought a courageous battle against breast cancer. Terry was the daughter of Willa Jean Hardy of Dothan, AL, and the late Charles Arthur Hardy. Terry's survivors include her husband, Dale Brewer, of Columbus, MS, daughter, Sara Dawson Brewer of Columbus, MS, brother, Charles Creig Hardy of Columbus, MS, sister, Carol Renee Hardy of Dothan, AL, sister, Sherrie Lynn Cole and her husband Ronnie of Dothan, AL, brother, Leslie Scott Hardy of Dothan, AL, and brother-in-law, Tony Brewer of Atlanta, GA. For many years, Terry has been an active volunteer in the community. Her memberships include the Columbus Soroptomist Club, Galaxy Garden Club, Cherokee Garden Club, Columbus Junior Auxiliary, and the Good Samaritan Medical Clinic. Over the past 11 years, Terry worked tirelessly raising funds and creating awareness to find a cure for breast cancer. Terry participated in numerous walks with the Susan G. Koman Foundation where she was a participant and cheerleader for others to persevere to the finish line in the annual 60 mile walk in Atlanta, GA, and Tampa, FL. Terry has always had a passion for animals, especially the abandoned and unwanted where they were taken in, loved, and nurtured. Terry was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served on various committees. In addition to her father, Terry was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Nicole "Nikkie" Hayes, and her dear friend, deacon, and Sunday School teacher, Ed Williams. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 4:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Hurt and Rev. Steve Lammons officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mel Brewer, Kenneth Sisson, Jimmy Cole, Jerry Nickoles, Barry Honeycutt, and Joe Clarke. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Knight, Alan Rankin, James Glenn, Herbert Junkin, Dr. John Whitecar and staff, Dr. Rob Jones and staff, members of Columbus Junior Auxiliary, Galaxy Garden Club, Cherokee Garden Club, Columbus Soroptomist Club, staff of Table of Plenty, deacons of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, employees of R & D Plumbing, and all friends of the family.
