Joseph Milford Joe Davis, age 68, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at his home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God with Revs. Jody Gurley and Jesse Ray officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The son of the late Milford and Emily Homan Davis, Mr. Davis was born August 22, 1944 in Caledonia, MS. He was a graduate of Caledonia High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from MS State University. He served two years in the US Army during the Vietnam War, working in finance. He was a longtime member of First Assembly of God and had served as a Deacon for several years. Mr. Davis retired from Burford Electric where he served as the Comptroller. He was a big fan of MS State Bulldogs football team. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Sharon Morris Davis, to whom he was married 41 years, his daughter and son-in-law Shelaine Davis Taylor and Todd of Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL, his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Tina Davis of Columbus, and his sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy and Marvin Brown of Columbus and Belinda and Jim Bowen of Caledonia, MS. He is also survived by grandchildren Ella and Davis Taylor. Pallbearers will be Doug Ray, Brian Flint, Jason Morris, Tim Moris, Benny Yarbrough and Walter Worthey. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Morris, Bud Morris, Tommy Whitley, Russell Bowen, Brandon Davis, Devin Davis and Ken Robinson. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association, MS and LA Chapter, P.O.
