JOHN SISSON - John Harold Sisson, age 91, of Columbus, MS, formerly of Pascalgoula, MS, died July 12, 2010 at his residence in Columbus. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sisson was born September 25, 1918, in Haleyville, AL, to the late J. T. and Minna Sue Lackmond Sisson. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army and Merchant Marines. Mr. Sisson retired after many years as an electrical designer for Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. While living in Pascagoula, Mr. Sisson was a mason and member of the First United Methodist Church where he was active in missions. In Columbus, he was a member of Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Sisson of Columbus, MS, daughter, Sueanne Dale and her husband, Bob of Columbus, MS, son, John Harold Sisson, Jr. and his wife, Vicki of Lake Charles, LA, and grandchildren, Mary-Hall Dale Johnson, R. Connely Dale, Andrew D. Dale, and Nicole Marie Sisson. Memorials may be made to Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church 1007 Shaeffer's Chapel Rd.
