Dorothy Featherston Moore, age 90, of Collierville, TN, formerly of Columbus, MS, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2014. Funeral services will be Friday, August 8, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Anne Harris officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Moore was born February 21, 1924 in Macon, MS. She was recently a member of St.Andrew's Episcopal Church in Collierville, TN, and earlier a licensed lay reader for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Columbus, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Moore, her parents, John J. and Eva Alluwee Featherston, and her sister and four brothers. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Moore, Jr. and his wife Sheila, of Collierville, TN, her son, John P. Moore and his wife, Susan, of Starkville, MS, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Dorothy, a wife and loving mother, was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women and went on to be an English teacher at Columbus High School and a secretary for Beneke Corporation. Her true calling was to serve her church, which she did until failing health forced her to retire. Age dimmed her sight and her memory failed, but until the end all who crossed her path received a heartfelt, "God bless you."
