Mrs. Mary Lee Thompson Harper, age 84, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Ben Yarber officiating and Dave Harper assisting. Interment will immediately follow at the cemetery. The daughter of the late Raymond Ollie and Minnie Bell Seacott Thompson, Mrs. Harper was born January 6, 1930 in the Hickory Grove community in Oktibbeha County, MS. She was a longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church and the Margaret Higginbotham Sunday School class. A salesperson at several businesses, she retired from Goose Hollow Furniture .She and her husband were members of the River Rats Social Club on the Tombigbee River, where she liked to water ski, fish and camp. She was a very giving person. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Ollie Thompson, Jr. and James Arthur Thompson, two sisters Hazel Shanks and Marie Langford and her husband Herman Oscar Harper, who died September 30, 1994. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Raymond Oscar and Libby Harper of Ocean Springs, MS, Lamar and Loretta Harper and Roger and Nancy Harper, a brother and sister-in-law Sidney L. and Mary Virginia Thompson, all of Columbus, MS and a sister Virginia Stooks of Buffalo, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Elizabeth Harwell (Ronnie), Jessica Kendziorek (Brent) Ashley Amacker, Ray Harper, Jr., Dale Morrow (Kim), Brandon Morrow and Tyler Harper and six great grandchildren.
