Edith Louise Sides Bowen, also known as "Mississippi", age 57, of Columbus, MS, passed away September 21, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, September 26, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Living Faith Tabernacle Church with Rev. Steve Joiner officiating. The interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bowen was born July 7, 1957, in West Point, MS, to the late Thomas Lee and Velma Louise Strickland Sides, Sr. She worked for a number of years as a nurse. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Sides, and sisters, Dessie Manning and Sarah Gonzalez. Survivors include her sons, Walter Tullos, Jr. of Mobile, AL, Bobby Joe "Lil Joe" Peeks, Jr. of Ethelsville, AL, and Brian Peeks of Columbus, MS, daughter, Tracy Nicole Peeks of Columbus, MS, brother, Thomas Lee Sides, Jr. of Columbus, MS, sister, Jeanie Wooten of Columbus, MS, best friend, Henry Thompson, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Cody Peeks, Danny Joe Peeks, Grant Davis, Henry Thompson, Jason Baswell, and Scottie Cook. Alternate pallbearers will be Sal Fragicamo and Darnell Perkins.
