Jolanda L. De Gasperi Wheat, age 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away October 1, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with Father Robert Dore officiating. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wheat was born June 11, 1930, in Trieste, Italy to the late Carlo and Ottavia Urbani De Gasperi. She met her late husband, Zelbert Wheat in the late 1950's while he was stationed in Italy. The family later moved back to the United States and were stationed at various locations before settling in Columbus, MS. Survivors include her sons, Eddy Wheat and his wife Thresa of Columbus, MS, and James Wheat and his wife Rhonda of Columbus, MS, sister, Bruna Petutzi and her husband Ginia of Trieste, Italy, 3 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
