William DeVan Blizzard, Sr., age 99, of Tampa, FL, passed away November 10, 2014. Graveside services will be Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Anne Harris officiating. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Blizzard was born August 19, 1915, in Myrtle, MS, to the late Edgar and Emma Simmons Blizzard. He was a veteran of WWII serving as Lt. Commander in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Blizzard received his Engineering degree from Mississippi State University and also Cornell University. He was a long time resident of Tampa, FL, and had a long distinguished career with Cummins Engine Company National and International. Mr. Blizzard was owner and President of Cummins Florida and involved with many charities and organizations in Tampa, FL. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Parsons Blizzard, and daughter, Betty Blizzard Calfee. Survivors include his son, William DeVan Blizzard, Jr. and his wife Mollie of London, OH, son-in-law, John Calfee, grandchildren, William D. Blizzard, III, Laurie Blizzard Smith, Claire Calfee, and Elizabeth Calfee, and great grandchildren, Ivy Smith and Madison Calfee. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks.
