A memorial service to celebrate the life of Thomas Arthur Moody, Jr. will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Tom was born on March 2, 1936 and passed away surrounded by his family on November 28, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Emily Chamberlin Moody, five children: Susanne Moody Cooper, Edith Moody Minyard, Lorraine Moody Ashcraft (Eugene), Lucas Smith (Kristy), and Allison Conn. He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Robert Thomas "Beau" Cooper, Leslie Wharton Gill, Allen Kibe, Elizabeth Ashcraft, Mackenzie Smith, Alexis Smith, Emma Catherine Smith, Jackson Conn, Isabella Conn and three great grandchildren. He was a 1954 graduate of S.D. Lee High School and later graduated from Mississippi State University. At MSU, he was a member of the SAE Fraternity. Tom worked at General Tire and Rubber Co. and Columbus Paper and Chemical for many years before retiring. He served as treasurer of Magowah Gun Club for 25 years. He loved SEC Football, spending time with family and friends and sharing good times with his buddies at "the man cave". Tom was also known as the "expert" in producing and sharing hybrid tomatoes. Tom will always be remembered for having a kind heart, a great sense of humor, and being a friend to everyone.
