Betty Rose Brown, age 88, of Steens, MS, passed away December 5, 2014 at Windsor Nursing & Rehab. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 8, 2014, at 12:00 noon at the Friendship Cemetery in Lamar County, AL ,approximately four miles from Steens, MS on Fernbank Road. Larry Montgomery will be officiating and Gunter & Peel Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Brown was born August 13, 1926, in Fernbank, AL to the late Ellie Lee and Dan Atkins of Steens. She was a housewife and an avid collector of antiques. Mrs. Brown was known for her lighthearted and fun personality who had the ability to talk to anyone and will be remembered as a kindred spirit that loved her true sole mate and husband of 59 years, Curtis D. Brown and her family. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, where she served the Lord, her family and her community. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Survivors include her sister Mary Morgan, her sons, Kenneth Brown and his wife Cynthia, and C. Alan Brown and his spouse Eric Tristani, and Brian Brown; granddaughters are Kylie Brown and Sarah Brown; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Pallbearers will be members of the Steens Church of Christ.
