Mrs. Gloria E. Newman Forbes, age 83, died December 21, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital/GT. Funeral services have been entrusted to Gunter and Peel Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Memorial Gardens of Columbus, MS with Jody Gurley officiating. Mrs. Forbes was born February 13, 1931 in Lynchburg, VA to the late Wince and Anna Mae Newman. She worked 22 years as the Business Clerk for the Army ROTC in Ft. Monroe, VA. She and her husband moved to Columbus over 3 years ago from Philadelphia, MS. She was a member of Masonic Lodge Auxiliary and Loyal order of Moose Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband David K. Forbes of Columbus, MS; daughter, Susanne L. Kight of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, James K. Kight, Jr. and Sarah E. Kight both of Columbus, MS; and 2 cousins, Paul D. Newman and Wesley C. Newman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Charity of your choice.
