Mrs. Nora Virginia Higdon, age 83, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at The Windsor Place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The service, officiated by Rev. David Long, will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Burial wii be in the Covin Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette, AL. The daughter of the late Charley and Lillie Mae Williams Walker, Mrs. Higdon was born February 21, 1931 in Louisville, MS. She was a member of the Church of God in Millport, AL. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Susie Rodriguez, her sons Jerry Roberts and James Otis Walker, her sister Earlene Keen, her two brothers Perry Walker and Charley Walker, Jr. and two granddaughters. She is survived by her husband Rev. Troy L. Higdon of Cleveland, TN, her son Zeb Roberts of Columbia, SC, her step-daughters and their husbands Shelby and Charles Finney of Cleveland, TN and Barbara and Kelly Jolly of Tuscaloosa, AL and her sisters and brothers-in-law Mae Hill of Caledonia, Dollye McBrayer and Mollye and Willie Howard, all of Noxapater, Joyce Bushey of Vernon, AL and Nancy and Buddy Bradford of Columbus and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Short, Brandon Bushey, Buddy Bradford, Larry McKinney, Jacob McKinney and Billy Hill.
