Lutie Harrington Black, age 88, of Brandon, MS, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away March 18, 2015, at Brandon Nursing & Rehab. Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 22, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Gillon officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Mrs. Black was born February 22, 1927, in Houston, MS, to the late Luther V. and Clara Hill Harrington. She was a graduate of Houston High School. Mrs. Black retired from civil service at Columbus Air Force Base, having worked from 1964 until her retirement in 1990. She was an active and loved member of Fairview Baptist Church for decades. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Black Sr. and six siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Black Travis and her husband Nickey of Flowood, MS, sons, George H. Black, Jr. (Harry) and his wife Melissa of Brandon, MS, Paul Taylor Black of Dallas, TX, and Stanley Ross Black and his wife Nancy of Gluckstadt, MS. Surviving siblings include sisters, Intha Dueness of Bradenton, FL, and Jeanette Doss of Houston, MS, and brother, Don Harrington of Houston, MS. Mrs. Black also has nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
