ROY V. GUYTON, JR. Roy Vardaman Guyton Jr., 80 years old, passed from this life on March 27, 2015 at Pioneer Community Hospital of Aberdeen. A resident of Columbus, MS, Roy was born in the Toccopola community in Pontotoc County, MS, October 15, 1934. The oldest son of Roy V. Guyton, Sr. (Vernon, AL),a preacher and a saw mill worker, and Myrtis Ladella Saxon Guyton (Pontotoc, MS,his family moved often in order to make a living. Roy graduated from Randolph High School in 1954. Roy married Sandra Robbins (Pontotoc, MS) in 1956 and they had four daughters, Rhoda Wright (Greg), Columbus, MS, Naomi Edmonds (Scott), Columbus, MS, Sharon Donahue (Johnny), Pontotoc MS, and Lydia Enlow (Scott), Columbus, MS. They were married until 1976. Roy worked hard to support his family and held many jobs through the years as a salesman and route driver as well as co-owner and operator of Little Giant Grocery Store in New Hope. His biscuits and cinnamon rolls are still remembered fondly by many who grew up hanging around the store, grabbing breakfast and gas over three decades. Roy was a big story teller and weaved tales together in a series that could keep an audience's attention for some time. They were often historical, sometimes just big tales, but always entertaining. Anyone who knew him knows he loved to eat, whether a big pile of catfish or a rare steak with a butter- drowned potato; he could just as easily be happy with turnip greens, peas and cornbread. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Keith Guyton (Pontotoc), and Donald Guyton (Jimmie) of Columbus, MS. Other survivors include grandchildren Steve Townsend (Kayce) Jacksonville, FL; Timothy Townsend (Amy) Columbus, MS; Trent Wright Blue Springs, MO; Micah Edmonds (Ellen) Clay, MS; Jeremiah Edmonds (Nicole) Dallas, TX; Thomas Edmonds, Columbus, MS; Lacey Edmonds Mitchell (Ben) Columbus, OH, Brittany Donahue, Starkville, MS, Cody Donahue Pontotoc, MS; Kalie Enlow Poole (Todd) and great grands Ashlyn and Brayden Townsend, Columbus, MS and Madison Mitchell Columbus, OH., Aubrey Poole Columbus, MS and nephews Johnnie Guyton and Michael Guyton.
