Thomas Glenn Comer, Sr., age 95, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 13, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Comer was born April 11, 1920, in Fulton, MS, to the late Alvin and Irene Holcomb Comer. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. He moved to Columbus and worked as a butcher for over 60 years. Mr. Comer worked for White Star Grocery and Pennington's Big Star. Mr. Comer later owned and operated Noxubee Cold Storage and Columbus Meat Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Comer. Survivors include daughters, Glenda Gross and her husband Raymond of Columbus, MS, and Judy Johnson and her husband Tommy of Aliceville, AL, sons, Thomas Glenn "Bubba" Comer, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Columbus, MS, and Alvin Coston "Al" Comer of Columbus, MS, brother, Jessie "Scoot" Comer of Fulton, MS, and grandchildren, Greg Spann, John Gross, Elizabeth Lemons and her husband Chris, Geoffery Comer, Joshua Comer, Jon Comer and his wife Kelly, and Caden Comer. Pallbearers will be Caden Comer, Joshua Comer, Geoffrey Comer, Buddy Easley, Raymond Gross, Gene Guyton, Vee Ferguson, and Stan Weathers.
