Agnes Irene Hathcock, 88, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Darlington Oaks Hospice, Verona, MS. Memorial arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandra DePriest officiating. Her cremains will be buried Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the National Cemetery in Corinth, MS. The daughter of the late Angus L. and Sylvia Irene Gann McAulay, Mrs. Hathcock was born July 13, 1926 in Pueblo, CO. She grew up in the Episcopal Church. She was employed as a bank teller and a copyright editor for a television station in Fairbanks, Alaska, but her passion was embroidery and needlework. She was a member of the Embroiderers Guild of America for 30 years and studied embroidery in Japan. She also traveled extensively in Asia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her half-sister Marie McAulay and her son John M. Adams, Jr. She is survived by her husband Mansie H. Hathcock, Jr. of Columbus, her sister Mary Ann Keahl of Henderson, NV, daughter-in-law Sharon Adams of Hamilton, MS, and her grandson and his wife Daniel and Christy Adams and two great grandchildren Lauren and Landon Adams, all of Columbus, MS.
