Lillian Rose McIver, 68, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, May 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore, celebrant. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. W. Blair McIver, her daughter, Dr. Kelly Trout and her husband Greg and their five children: Zachary, Gabrielle, Abigail, Gregory and Michael Bailey. She is, also, survived by her siblings, Joanne Tuffs, Helen Handcock( Bruce ), David Letourneau ( Wanda), numerous nieces and nephews and sisters in-law, Kathy Doan( Wally) and Beth Gustafson(Gus). She was predeceased by her son, Patrick David Blair McIver and her parents Rene' Joseph and Gudbjorg Sigridur Olafson Letourneau. Rusty was born March 9, 1947 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and grew up in Plenty, Saskatchewan. After high school graduation she attended the University of Saskatchewan's Arts program before training as a Registered Nurse. It was in her nursing program that she met her future husband, Blair. They married in Edmonton, Alberta on December 19, 1969. Blair completed his residency in Vancouver, British Columbia and they then moved to Maui where they lived for several years before relocating to Columbus in 1986 and establishing permanent roots. Rusty was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the community. A deeply spiritual person, she was an active member of a prayer group and was always willing to offer prayers for family or friends. She loved children and the Arts and continued her studies in education at the Mississippi University for Women. Known as Lilly by her grandchildren , she was a very devoted and involved grandmother. She will be remembered for her creativity, her compassion and her boundless generosity.. Memorials may be made to Friends of Annunciation Catholic Church, 823 College Street, Columbus, MS 39701.
