Mrs. Gloria L. Templeton, age 79, formerly of Columbus, stepped peacefully into Heaven Saturday, May 30, 2015 when she passed away at her home in Helena, AL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, June 1, 2015 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Al Hamm officiating. Gloria was born July 13, 1935 to the late Alvis O. and Syble Bowman Baldwin in Sulligent, Alabama. She and her husband Robert owned and operated Templeton's Superette on Hwy. 69 South for many years in the 1970's and 1980's. Gloria was a longtime member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Templeton was preceded in death by husband, Robert W. Templeton and her brothers, Gordon Baldwin and Kenneth S. Baldwin. She is survived by her sons, David Wood (Janice) of Columbus and Tim Wood of Birmingham, AL. She also is survived by her brother, George Baldwin( Shirley of Columbus, sisters Betty Sims (Billy) of Columbus and Jean Hall of Center, AL; her grandchildren, Kasie Wood, T. K. Wood, Brande Shober; and her great grandchildren Alana Harmond, Stella Shober, Brooks Shober, Jaxson Wood and Brantley Prescott. You can never sum up such a big life in this small amount of space and time. Gloria, also known as Nanny, Aunt GG and Nancakes, never met a stranger. She enjoyed having garage sales, working in her brother's produce stand and cooking. Cooking was her passion and she would make you eat whether you wanted to or not. She fiercely loved her family, from her brothers and sisters to her sons to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her church, family and friends.
