Virginia Prout

December 2, 1922 — July 9, 2015

Virginia Prout, 92, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2015 surrounded by her family and the loving staff from KC Hospice and Centerpointe Care Center at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, KS where she has resided since relocating to KS in 2004. The staff is resplendent and helped Virginia and her family when they could no longer help themselves. There is no greater gift one human can give to another than love. Virginia was born December 2, 1922 in Tupelo, MS. She married Dr. William Ennis Prout in 1943 and served alongside him as a pastor's wife for several churches in MS and AL from 1945 to 1988 and as a faculty wife for Mississippi University for Women and Men in Columbus, MS where Dr. Prout taught from 1965 to 1988.Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Aaron and Betty Whitten Reese, and brother, Ben Reese. She is survived by her son, William Ennis Prout, Jr. of MS and his wife, Sarah; daughter, Virginia Ruth Coleman of KS and her husband, Randy; grandchildren Abby Wade Coleman (Tom Hickman)of UT and Amanda Hennessey (Neal) of MA and great grandson, JJ Hennessey also of MA. Virginia is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Reese of MS and nieces, Cindy Stewart (Dr. Larry) and Lydia Lantrip (David) and numerous cousins and friends. A graveside service and interment of ashes for Mrs. Prout will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Saltillo Cemetery in Saltillo, MS. The service will be officiated by Dr. Bobby Douglas of Bruce, MS. Gunter Peel Funeral Home will oversee the services. A reception will follow.
