COLUMBUS -- Henry Price Anderson, Jr., 88, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson, MS. Born on May 1, 1927, in Helena, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Henry Price Anderson, Sr. and the late Kate Brown Anderson. Henry attended school in Helena and then went on to study at Hendrix College. Henry served in the navy from 1945-1947. After working in Helena at Pekin Wood Products for a number of years, he sold hardware in Helena. Subsequently, Henry spent over 10 years in Canton, MS where he served as vice president of Gilbert Wood Products, a furniture manufacturer. Following his position in Canton, he served about 10 years as a businessman in hardware in Raymondville, Texas. He moved to Columbus, MS in 1983 and continued working in the hardware business as a regional salesman. He lived 32 years in Columbus and had moved to Jackson in July of 2015. He was a friend of First United Methodist Church of Columbus. He had a number of hobbies but perhaps loved most growing plants which he could masterfully do from a clipping of most any kind. Henry is preceded in death by his parents; his only child, Henry Price Anderson, III; and three of his sisters: Kate Anderson Morgan, June Anderson White, and May Anderson Rosewarne. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Anderson Gilbert of Ridgeland, MS; grandchildren Pricilla Anderson, Henry Price Anderson IV (Erica), and Jacqueline Anderson; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Palmer Home of Columbus. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Columbus, MS.
