Dr. William Frank "Bill" Hoyt, age 82, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 17, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Father Robert Dore officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. Hoyt was born December 5, 1932, in Little Rock, AR, to the late Edwin George and Grace Anna Rohlman Hoyt. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Army. Dr. Hoyt received his undergraduate degree from Arkansas State Teachers College, Masters degree from the University of Mississippi, and Doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 1964 until his retirement at Mississippi State University, Dr. Hoyt served as Instructor of Mathematics, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and Associate Professor of Mathematics. He served on various committees at Mississippi State, and also served as Assistant to the Mathematics Department Head. Dr. Hoyt was of the Catholic faith, and in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by a son, William Edward "Ted" Hoyt. Survivors include his wife, Nell Sims Hoyt of Columbus, MS, children, Theresa Pendley and her husband Dale of Columbus, MS, Barbara Hoopes and her husband Jeff of Manassas, VA, Ellen Bowles and her husband Shannon of Millport, AL, Jon Hoyt and his wife Cora of Little Rock, AR, Melinda Clark and her husband Bob of Columbus, MS, Lisa Ferguson and her husband Fergie of Cleburne, TX, and Jerry Wallace and his wife Wanda of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Richard Ammerman, Valerie Hoopes, Angela Collins, Drew Hoyt, Russell Pendley, Robert Clark and James Clark, and great grandchildren, Austin Collins and Michael Collins. Pallbearers will be Richard Ammerman, Drew Hoyt, Dale Pendley, Chuck Fiske, Mike Ellis, and Devin Criddle.
