GLEN GRISSOM Glenwood "Glen" Grissom age 80 died Monday, August 24, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Clark Richardson officiating, burial with U.S. Navy Honors, will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Grissom was born on Wednesday, October 17, 1934 in Holland, MO, to the late Grady and Bethel Long Grissom. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbus. I HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED THE RACE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH' 2 TIMOTHY 4:7 At the age of 17, Glen joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for 8 years. He boarded a ship right out of basic training and spent 75% of his service at sea. He loved being in the military and serving as the ship's cook. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he settled in Los Angeles, California and continued working as a baker. In his spare time, he loved to street race, a hobby that developed into a professional racing career that spanded over 6 years. His Blue Covette was known nationwide and held the record for 2 years as the worlds fasted funny car. In 1969, he started working full-time in the exhaust business and married his beautiful wife which he has adored ever since then. In 1972, he moved his family to Memphis TN. Glen had no job waiting on him, he used his skills in the exhaust field to call on used car lots in Memphis in hopes doing repairs and developing a business relationship with them. He was so successful doing this that he was given the opportunity to manage all the "3 Star Mullfler" shops in Memphis. He took his position very seriously and he was rewarded by the owners with an offer to buy the shops. Glen Grissom became a very successful business owner. In 1978, he moved his family to Columbus, MS to be nearer to family and he opened his first MS muffler shop on Gardner Blvd. At one point, Glen had 5 "3 Star Muffler" shops in MS, AL and TN. Glen retired in 2004 and enjoyed a of life fishing at Browning Creek in Starkville and many other places He so enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. Glen loved His God, His Wife, His Family, and His Friends and felt he was so blessed in every aspect of life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Grissom, and his grandson, Hunter Grissom. Grissom Chloe Grissom Kirby Allen (Brock) Leslie Dimino (Nick) Abby McCartney (John Ross) Carson Beard (Claire) Bethany Williamson (Tyler) Presly Prisock (Laura) Parker Prisock (Cheyenne Underwood) Cody Nichols Ciera Nichols Five Great Grand Children: Anna Grace Grissom Jack Dimino Sam Beard Luke Allen Cambell Dimino The Pallbearers will be: Danny Grissom "In Memory of Hunter Grissom", D.J.
