God sent an angel to Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS on Saturday, August 29, 2015 to usher Jane McLelland Kalinowski into glory where she received a golden crown from her Savior. Gunter and Peel Funeral Home in Columbus has charge of her earthly arrangements. Margaret Jane McLelland Kalinowski was born on October 18, 1949 in Louisville, MS to James Ross and Margaret Key McLelland, who predeceased her. As a child she was a very active member of First Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Jane graduated from Louisville High School in 1968 and subsequently attended both East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba and Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus. While at MSCW she met the love of her life and husband for more than 44 years, Andrew T. Kalinowski, who was in the Air Force at the time. Besides being the wife of a military member she raised two children - John Bart, now living in Lakeland, Florida and Kevin, who lives in Columbus. Jane had many interests but all centered around helping others and learning more about God. She was a member of the Columbus Air Force Base Community Council, a past president of the East Columbus Lions Club and loved helping with the Loaves and Fishes Ministry or doing vision screenings with the Lions Club. To grow personally she participated in Life Enrichment Program courses at Mississippi University for Women. She was an active member of Life Church in Columbus and also faithfully attended the senior adult bible study at First Assembly of God every week. She also enjoyed attending any Mississippi State game. She is survived by her husband, both sons, her grandson David from Florida along with multiple cousins who she dearly loved and they loved her. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday and from 10:00-10:45 am Tuesday at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of her life and committal service in the Gunter and Peel Chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday with Revs. Franklin McLelland and Jody Andrews presiding. Burial will be next to her parents at Blackwater Baptist Church Cemetery in Daleville. Her cousins and the lay leaders of Life Church will serve as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include the doctors and nurses at Baptist Memorial Hospital Critical Care Unit, Rush Foundation Hospital High Observation Unit, members of the First Assembly senior adult Celebration bible study, and members of the East Columbus Lions Club. In lieu of flowers, Jane asked that memorials be made to Life Church, 419 Wilkins Wise Rd, Columbus, MS 39705, Lions of MS Sight Foundation, 431 Katherine Drive, Flowood, MS 39232 or to the donor's favorite charity.
