Mose J. "Pip" Bryant, age 88, of Columbus, MS, formerly of Jackson, MS, passed away September 5, 2015, at Trinity Healthcare of Columbus. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Briarwood United Methodist Church in Jackson with Rev. Brad Hodges and Rev. Ron McDougal officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home in Columbus and also Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church in Jackson. Pip Bryant was born August 11, 1927, to the late John Wesley and Ambrosia Pittman Bryant in Jackson. Raised on a dairy farm in Jackson, he graduated from Forest Hill High School. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served at Bethesda Hospital during World War II. He attended Clark Business School in Jackson and began working in the family business, Bryant Dairy Supply. He met the love of his life, Willa Dean Bryant, on a blind date. They married in 1948 and had three children, Stephen, Michael, and Kathi. Pip Bryant spent his career as an award-winning representative for a national chemical company. He was an active member of Briarwood United Methodist Church in Jackson where he was a lay leader and served in many other leadership positions. He and Dean were also active in the Methodist Cursillo Organization for many years. He was a member of the Jackson Exchange Club and was also a Freemason. After moving to Columbus in 2009, he was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a resident of Trinity Healthcare. The family would like to thank the staff for their years of care and devotion to the welfare of Pip Bryant. Family, faith, and friendship were the cornerstones of his life and his overriding values. Family was his priority and he was a selfless man. Upon the death of his father, Pip gladly assumed the role of family caregiver, and his duty was to ensure the safety and well-being of his mother and siblings. Together, Pip and Dean touched many lives. Survivors include his sons, Stephen Glenn Bryant and his wife Lisa of Ocean Springs, MS, and Michael Judson Bryant and his wife Stephanie of Philadelphia, PA, and daughter, Kathi Bryant Bean and her husband John of Columbus, MS, sister, Barbara Causey and her husband Cloy of The Woodlands, TX, and grandchildren, Blake Williams, Kelsey Bryant, Connor Bryant, Quinn Bryant, Lindsey Bean, and Bryant Bean and his wife Sarah. Pallbearers will be Connor Bryant, Quinn Bryant, Bryant Bean, Mark Bean, Rick Causey, and Sonny Steel. Memorials may be made to Trinity Healthcare Sunday Fund, 230 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS, 39702, or Briarwood United Methodist Church, 320 Briarwood Dr., Jackson, MS, 39206.
