Mrs. Elizabeth Moore "Libba" Johnson, age 87, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Ollie Steele Burden Manor in Baton Rouge, LA. Graveside services with Rev. Glenn Miller, officiating, will be Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Fairfield Inns and Suites. The daughter of the late William Carroll Moore and Elizabeth Waring Moore Ottley, Mrs. Johnson was born August 20, 1928 in Columbus, MS. She was a graduate of S.D. Lee High School and received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Mississippi University for Women. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband H.C. Johnson, Jr., and a granddaughter Beth Surles. Libba was active in many organizations in Columbus including the Bernard Romans Chapter of the DAR, the Daughters of the Confederacy, The Columbians, Columbus-Lowndes Genealogical Society, Les Amies Study Club, Columbus Junior Auxiliary, and Cherokee Garden Club. She served as a Docent at the Lee Home. She also taught and did geneology research for the public and at one time operated Libba's Antiques. She was also an avid bridge and tennis player. She is survived by her son Hoyt Johnson, III, Springfield, LA, and daughters Carroll Uithoven, Dauphin Island, AL; Marion Surles, Dublin, TX and Linda Merkel, Baton Rouge, LA.
