Thurman Lee "Bud" Shackelford, age 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away October 30, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Brown officiating. The private interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at the church. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Shackelford was born July 2, 1931, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Joseph Lee and Ruby Strawn Shackelford. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Army. Mr. Shackelford retired from United Technologies after 40 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McDill Shackelford, and sister, Mildred Hannah. Survivors include his son, Richard "Lee" Shackelford and his wife Becky of Columbus, MS, daughters, Wanda Channell and her husband Ronnie of Birmingham, AL, and Donna Jenkins and her husband George "Allen" of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Jennifer Burtram and her husband Michael, Amanda Mersing, Jonathan Jenkins and his wife Cynthia, Joseph Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, Judy Lynn Shackelford Nesbit and her husband Ben, and Michelle Shackelford, and 9 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charles West, Tim McDill, Jerry McDill, Jonathan Jenkins, Joseph Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, James Robbins, and Jerry Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Studdard, Gerald Riles, Lowell Hughes, Haskell Robbins, and R. D. Fuqua. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 295 Dowdle Dr., Columbus, MS, 39702.
