REV. DEWEY FLORA, JR. Nick Dewey Flora, Jr., widow of Louise Tate Flora, died Tuesday, November 3, in Greenville, South Carolina. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 2:00 p.m. at East End Baptist Church, with Dr. Albert Wilkerson and Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Mr. Flora was born in Macon, MS on September 8, 1925 to the late Nick Dewey Flora, Sr. and the late Florence Mize Flora. He was very proud to have served in the U. S. Navy and participated in six battles in World War II. He lived in Columbus most of his adult life until he lost his wife of 61 years in 2007, and shortly thereafter moved to Greenville, SC to be closer to two of his four daughters. Mr. Flora served as pastor for several Baptist churches in Mississippi and Alabama. He had a second career of teaching electronics at the vocational school in Columbus. After retiring from full-time pastoral ministry, he and his wife were active members of East End Baptist Church where they worked alongside the church family. He was always eager to share his faith journey with others. Family was a top priority for “Brother Dewey, daddy, papaw, Uncle Dewey”. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He is survived by four daughters: Dewanda Martin (Jim) of Greenville, SC; Bonita Whittenton (Charlie) of Scottsdale, AZ; Freda Higdon (Carey) of Greer, SC; and Lisa Flora of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren: Merritt Whittenton (Kandi), Justin Whittenton, Halim Rizk, Mariana Rizk Loftin (Aaron), Tania Rizk Badra (Omar), Ben Martin, and Sarah Giddings; and one great granddaughter, Kayla Whittenton Norman (Chad). Serving as pallbearers will be: Mel Sharpe, Curtis Pritchett, Tim Flora, Craig Barfield, Richard Holifield, and Marty Dees. Memorials may made to East End Baptist Church, P. O.
