Yvonne Harrington Hill, age 79, died Monday, November 9, 2015 at University of MS Medical Center, Jackson, MS. Memorial arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove United Methodist, with Rev. James Black officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church. The daughter of the late Ellis and Grace Beasley Harrington, Mrs. Hill was born May 3, 1936 in Lowndes County, MS. After graduating from S.D. Lee High School in 1954, she married Douglas C. Hill in November of that year and had two sons Jed and Craig. Her husband's job took the family to Pennsylvania and the Philippines, allowing her to travel and do many things most other people dream of doing. She established the "Exotic Woodshed" Lumber store in Pennsylvania, successfully running it for 13 years. She retired and moved back to Steens in 1991. She relished trying new things in sewing, cross-stitching, crafting, canning and cooking. She volunteered for many activities and organizations, including the Cub Scouts, the Library, a wildlife sanctuary and her church. She was a longtime member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, serving as a trustee at the time of her death. She was a beautiful, caring wife and mother who left a loving legacy. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband Douglas C. Hill, her sons Jed L. Hill, Craig A. Hill and his wife Lorrie and her grandson Joshua C. Hill. Memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 102 Fernbank Rd., Steens, MS , 39766.
