Eloise Gibson Parra, age 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 15, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Bo Bankston officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Vaughn Cemetery in Steens, MS. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the church. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Parra was born August 9, 1931, in Caledonia, MS, to the late Frank and Myrtis Richards Gibson. She was a homemaker and member of Woodland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel E. Parra, brother, Frank McKell Gibson, and sisters, Betty Jo Hosler, Sue Lambert, and Joyce Gibson. Survivors include her husband, Samuel L. Parra of Columbus, MS, son, Dale Parra and his wife Nancy of Columbus, MS, daughter, Cindy Landrum and her husband Mike of Columbus, MS, grandsons, Edward Clemmons and his wife Bridget of Amory, MS, and Michael S. Parra of Prattville, AL, daughter-in-law, Pam Coupland and her husband Ken, brother, Carroll Gibson and his wife Joyce, brother-in-law, Houston Lambert of Guntown, MS, and sister-in-law, Avis Gibson of Beaverton, AL. Pallbearers will be Harold Partain, Travis Morrow, Edward Clemmons, Cory Kilgore, Doug Holliman, and Toby Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be David Lewis, Lee Kraker, Gary Holtman,Garry Morris, Dr. Brett Brown, and the men of Woodland Baptist Church.
