Katherine Shepard Gunter, age 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 13, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be Sunday, November 22, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Bob Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Gunter was born December 29, 1929, in Drew, MS, to the late Lawrence Cecil and Eva Blaylock Shepard. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Gunter enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gunter, son, Michael West Gunter, and sister, Joy Nestler. Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Canion and her husband Ron of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Katy Pacelli and her husband Jay, Andy Canion and his wife Carly, Westley Gunter and his wife Jessica, James Nail Gunter and his wife Carole, Ryan Harrison, and Jennifer Livingston and her husband Price, and 7 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
