Irene Studdard

June 30, 1930 — November 26, 2015

Irene Lockhart Studdard, age 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 26, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Monday, November 30, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Beersheba CumberlandPresbyterian Church .
The interment will immediately follow in Beersheba Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.  Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Studdard was born June 30, 1930, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Walter N. and Lessie Mixon Lockhart, Sr.  She and her husband, the late Rev. Charles M. Studdard sang in a quartet called the Gospel 4 that aired on WCBI

Radio.  Mrs. Studdard was a lifetime member of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  In addition to singing in the choir and playing the piano, she was Past President of the Beersheba Church Women and was a
Lifetime Member of Grace Presbytery Cumberland Presbyterian Women.  Mrs. Studdard enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was also a huge Mississippi State fan and Memphis Grizzlies fan.  In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles M. Studdard, and sister, Juanita Lockhart Newton.

Survivors include her sons, Charlie Studdard and his wife Margie of Columbus, MS, Joe Studdard and his wife Stephanie of Columbus, MS, daughter, Sharon Studdard Garner and her husband Rick of Columbus, MS, brothers, Rev. Walter N. Lockhart, Jr. and his wife Lois of Trenton, NJ, and Billy Lockhart and his wife Linda of Madison, AL, grandchildren, Christian Williams and her husband Kevin, Ashley Hughes and her husband Drew, Jerry Studdard and his wife Rebecca, Jarrad Garner, Dr. Justin Garner and his wife Mary Tana, Adam Garner, Baleigh Studdard, and Lawson Studdard, and twelve great grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Drew Hughes, Jarrad Garner, Dr. Justin Garner, Adam Garner, and Lawson Studdard.  Honorary pallbearers will be caregivers of The Arrington, the maintenance crew at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Men of Beersheba Cumerland Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Studdard's Sunday School Class of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Jimmy Galloway, Tommy Hall, Joe Stuart, John Lumsden, Wayne Ellis, Donald Atkins, Chris McGlothin, and Bobby Alexander.
