Helen Virginia Ford
October 6, 1934 — January 19, 2016
Helen Virginia Fondren Ford, age 81, of Columbus, MS, passed away
January 19, 2016, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Thursday,
January 21, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev . Joe Fondren
officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Beersheba Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2016, from 11:00 AM until the time
of the service.
Mrs. Ford was born Octo ber 6, 1 934, in Columbus, MS, to the late Jake
and Etoile Franks Fondren. She worked as a draftsman and retired from
United Technologies. Mrs. Ford was an avid and talented music lover
spending many years as a church pianist. She was a longtime member of the
Music Study Club and was a past member of the DAR. Mrs. Ford's cookbook
collection was extensive and she loved to bake. Her caramel cakes might not
have always been the prettiest but they taste the best. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Ford, son,
Billy Ford, and brothers, Johnny Fondren and Charles Fondren.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Phelps and her husband Wayne of
Starkville, MS, son, John Ford of Columbus, MS, brother, Tommy Fondren and
his wife Carolyn of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Ginnie Cody and her husband
Derek of Starkville, MS, Laura Hoffman and her husband Brian of Eupora, MS,
Sara Parker and her husband Adam of Columbus, MS, and Rachel Fuller and her
husband Scottie of Meridian, MS, daughter-in-law, Jan Ford of Columbus, MS,
and 16 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Parker, Brian Hoffman, Wayne Phelps, Greg
Fondren, Scottie Fuller, and Tucker Hoffman.
