James Larry Gilmore
June 5, 1938 — February 9, 2016
Mr. Gilmore was born June 5, 1938, in Artesia, MS, to the late Elmon Leo and Jewel Earline Stanford Gilmore. He served in the Mississippi National Guard and retired from the Columbus Light & Water Department. Mr. Gilmore was a devout Baptist, loved to hunt and fish, and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Purvis Wayne Gilmore and Hubert Earl Gilmore, and sisters, Letha Carr and Wanda Weir.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Selma Newman Gilmore of Columbus, MS, son, Donald Wayne Gilmore and his wife Karlene of Hattiesburg, MS, daughters, Elisa Sharron Tubbs of Columbus, MS, and Dana Lynn Fant and her husband Robin of Starkville, MS, brothers, Royce Gilmore of Columbus, MS, Huey Gilmore of Pickensville, AL, and Lionel Gilmore of Columbus, MS, sister, Cynthia Goldman of Birmingham, AL, grandchildren, Jessica Thomasson,
Joshua Gilmore, Ashley Gilmore, Jeremy Yarbrough, Tanner Fant, and Grace Fant, and 5 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robin Fant, Bryant Thomasson, John Lindsey, Brian Lindsey, Josh Gilmore, and Dennis Gilmore.
