David Douglas Stover, II, age 68, formerly of Columbus , died February 6, 2016 at Lake Park of Madison, Madison, FL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Todd Matocha officiating, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Main Street Presbyterian Church.

The only son of the late Samuel Windle “Buddy” Stover, who retired from the Columbus Police Department, and Clara A. Swoope Stover, who was an English and French teacher at Lee High School , David was born July 26, 1947 in Starkville , MS . He was an Honor Graduate of S.D. Lee Senior High School, Class of 1965. Before moving to Florida some years ago, Mr. Stover was very active with the Friends of the Library, serving in many roles. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church, but had attended Main Street Presbyterian Church in later years.

He is survived by many cousins from the Stover, Swoope and Ellis families.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Swedenburg, Doug Yelverton, Mike Ellis, Warren “Oop” Swoope, Frank Swoope, Charles Swoope and Floyd McIntyre.
