Mrs. Shepherd was born September 5, 1924, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Jess May and Lura Etma Cline May. She married James Louis Shepherd on August 21, 1943 and together they had six children, Larry, Sandra, Joe,
Kenneth, Sharon, and Steve. She loved life and was a happy- go- lucky person. She loved her family, most of all her children and grandchildren. Brothers and sisters were also very special to her. Mrs. Shepherd loved gospel music, and in years past, would never miss going to a gospel singing no matter how far or near. She was a big sports fan of the Atlanta Braves and Ole Miss Rebels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, William Russell Conn, husband, James Louis Shepherd, sons, Kenneth and Larry, grandson, Joshua Leavell, brothers, James, Louis, Jack, and Willard Conn, and sister, Virginia Conn Pridmore Humphries.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Tibbett and her husband Bill of Amory, MS, and Sharon Leavell and her husband Bud of Arlington, TX, sons, Joe Shepherd of the home in Steens, Steve Shepherd and his wife Kim ofVernon, AL, grandchildren, Donna Coleman Carter of Brandon, MS, Dr. Jason Coleman and his wife Cynthia of Hernando, MS, Heather Bowman and her husband Johnny of Cleburne, TX, Valerie Fields and her husband Dusty of Millport, AL, Amber Knowles and her husband Greg of Claremore, OK, and Tamara Allen and her husband Joshua of Euless, TX, great grandchildren, Griffin Coleman, Garrett Coleman, Emma Bowman, Ava Bowman, Joshua Cole "Jace" Bowman, and Charlotte Knowles, sisters, Betty Conn Clardy of Millport, AL, and Bobbie Conn Chain and her huband Bert, Jr. of Columbus, MS, and brothers, Ted Conn and his wife Faye of Columbus, MS, and Barney Conn and his wife Karen of Columbus, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Conn, Russell Conn, Stewart Conn, Freddie Shepherd, Steve Ward, and Jason Coleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curt Younger and Mitzi Younger, Dean Conn, Buddy and Mary Hayes, Dr. Chang, Dr. Michael Duckworth, friends of the Steens Community, and friends of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
