J.H. Spruill

J. H. Spruill, age 87, of Tupelo, MS, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away April 18, 2016. at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Spruill was born September 17, 1928, in Pickens County, AL, to the late John Harvey and Una Shelton Spruill. He was a retired captain from the Columbus Fire Department. Mr. Spruill was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and Dr. John Wierengo's Sunday School Class. He was an avid bowler and checkers player and was a participant in the Senior Olympics. Mr. Spruill loved his family and enjoyed sports and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Wiggins Spruill of Tupelo, MS, daughters, Lori Hitt and her husband Bill of Pontotoc, MS, and Denise Harper and her husband Russell of Ft. Worth, TX, grandchildren, Olivia Estep, Kelsey Harper, and Kyle Harper, and numerous nieces an nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Dr. John Wierengo's Sunday School Class of Fairview Baptist Church.
