James Stanley Hargett, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 21,
2016, at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23, 2016,
at 3:00 PM at Gunter &

Dr. Shawn Parker and John Sanders assisting. The interment will immediately
follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL, with military honors.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at
Gunter & Peel Funeral Home.
Mr. Hargett
was born June 12, 19
29, in Tildon, MS, to the late James E.
and Jewell Irene Moore Hargett. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the
United States Army and retired from the Columbus Light & Water Department
after 32 years. Mr. Hargett was a Godly man and served as a Sunday School
teacher for 55 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church w

taught the James Hargett Sunday School Class for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Springfield Hargett of Columbus,
MS, sons, James Stanley "Stan" Hargett, Jr. and his wife Stacy of Oxford,
MS, Ken H

of Columbus, MS, and Tim Hargett of Columbus, MS, sister,
Nell Stagges of Memphis, TN, grandchildren, Heather Hargett, Brad Hargett,
Terra Boling and her husband John, Mary Lauren Boykin and her husband
Michael, Hallie Doyle and her husband Eric, and Jamie Hargett, and 8 great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hargett, Chris Chain, Jason Merchant, John
Boling, Eric Doyle, Michael Boykin, Reau Berry, and Buddy Perrigin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Perrigin, Charlie Watkins, Albert Lee, Mark Horning, David Webb, and members of the James Hargett Sunday School Class of Fairview Baptist Church.
