Mr. Joseph “Joe” D. Ellis, age 54, died Friday May 13, 2016 surrounded by his family at his parents’ home in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at Friendship Cemetery with Dr. David Curtis and John Blair officiating. Visitation will be 2:30 – 3:45 pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home.
Mr. Ellis was born May 30, 1961 in Columbus, MS to Gillman “Mike” E. Ellis, Jr. and Martha McDonald Ellis. Joe graduated from Heritage Academy. He was in the construction business in Columbus for many years and also farmed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Springfield Ellis in January 2016 and his brother, Gillman E. Ellis, III.
He is survived by his parents Mike and Martha Ellis of Columbus, MS; his daughter, Shiloh Erin Ellis of Columbus, MS; brothers, Michael W. Ellis of Columbus, MS; John Mark Ellis of Dallas, TX; sister, Marty E. Clark of Norfolk, VA; step daughter, Paige Robinson Reeves of Hamilton, MS; step son Jomie Robinson of Hamilton, MS; and 4 step grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Campassi, Matthew Ellis, Bobby Williams, Taylor Robertson, Charles Ellis and Steve Ellis.
