Sandra Kay Stubbe

November 8, 1943 — June 10, 2016

Sandra Kay Peebles Stubbe, age 72, joined her Heavenly Father Friday, June 10, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Leukemia.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Rev. Raigon Miskelly officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.  A private, family interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS.

Sandra was born in Philadelphia, MS on Nov. 08, 1943. She grew up in Laurel, MS  and graduated from Laurel High School in 1961. While at Laurel High Sandra was involved in many school activities and selected as most beautiful & class favorite. Sandra attended college at MSCW (MUW) in Columbus, MS, graduating in 1965. While at MSCW she earned a degree in mathematics. She was also a member of the Silhouette Social Club. Following college Sandra and her husband, Walter Stubbe, moved to Augusta, Ga. where she taught mathematics for several years. They settled in Starkville, MS, where they were original owners of a candle manufacturing business. Sandra enjoyed working with other family members to grow that business to a nationally recognized name in the candle line of products. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her most enjoyable times were spending time with family and working in her flower garden. Sandra was a kind, compassionate, thoughtful, supporting person and will be greatly missed.

Sandra is survived by husband Walter Stubbe, daughter and son-in-law Tracie and Bart Henson of Columbus, grandchildren Kelsey & Nicholas Newman, mother Katherine N. Peebles of Brandon, MS , brother and sister-in-law  Robert (Buster) and  Cheyrle Peebles of Madison, MS, nephew Rob Peebles of Clinton, MS, as well as aunt and uncles, Steve and Charlene Webb, Ray Howell of Philadelphia, MS, and many cousins.

Pallbearers will be David Webb, Joe Webb, Rob Peebles, Bart Henson, Brad Perkerson and Shelton Jones.
