Erma Corbell Wakefield

Erma Corbell Wakefield age 83 died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Aurora Health & Rehabilitation in Columbus . Services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating.  Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery . Visitation will be held Wednesday June 15, 2016 from 6:00 PM til 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wakefield was born on Tuesday, November 29, 1932 in Monroe County , MS to the late John Tom and Ettie Reeves Corbell, Sr.. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a retired seamstress. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, Nelmon L. Wakefield, Son, Nelmon Ray “Buddy” Wakefield , Sister, Jewel Corbell Robertson, Brother, John Tom Corbell, Jr, and her grandson, Michael Ray “Mike” Fortner.

Survivors include her daughters Patricia Nell Wakefield and Nelda McConaha, both of Caledonia , MS, Yvonne Fortner (Jimmy Ray), Millport , AL and Angie Wakefield, Hartselle , AL, great-grandchildren Lee McConaha, Amanda McConaha, Bryan Fortner, Brad Fortner, Heather Korby and Jessie Wakefield. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Geer, Lee McConaha, Jeff Inmon, Jay Anderson , Danny Jordan and Harold Partain.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors.

The Wakefield family would like to thank the staff of Aurora Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent care of their loved one.
