Joan DeWolf Hunter, age 80, of Columbus, MS, passed away July 3, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be Monday, July 11, 2016, at 11:30 AM at East Lyme Cemetery in New London, CT, with Rev. Alan Scott officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2016 , from 10:00 AMuntil 11:00 AM at Byles - MacDougal Funeral Home in New London, CT. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hunter was born November 10, 1935, in Salem, CT, to the late Walter and Dora Lee DeWolf. She was a graduate of New London High School. She and her late husband, Robert Earl Hunter, lived at various military bases before settling in Columbus, MS. Mrs. Hunter worked at First Columbus National Bank for over 20 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Earl Hunter, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Tamara Lee Hunter of Columbus, MS, sisters, Evelyn Carol Vann of Hartford, CT, and Beatrice D. Brooks of Hartford, CT, and grandchildren, Hunter Waggoner and Shields Herron, both of Columbus, MS.
