Dr. Andrew Robert Dill, 79, a resident of Columbus , Mississippi died on July 29 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Dr. Dill was born on July 26, 1937 in West Point , MS , son of Mr. & Mrs. Earnest B. Dill. Dr. Dill graduated from West Point High School and was an All-State football player and named to not only the Mississippi All-State Team but played in the All-State All-Star game in Jackson , MS . He attended college at Mississippi State University and graduated from the University Of Mississippi School Of Medicine . He did an internship at Mobile General Hospital in Mobile , AL and did his residency at Kennedy Veterans Administration Hospital , University of Tennessee in Memphis , TN.
Dr. Dill began his practice in the field of internal medicine with Dr. Frank Baird in Columbus , MS in June 1967 and was one of the founders of the former Internal Medicine Associates of Columbus. Dr. Dill was a Board Certified Fellow of The American Board of Internal Medicine and was widely recognized by his peers as not only an excellent physician but an acclaimed diagnostician. Dr. Dill also served for a period of time as an internal medicine physician with Baptist Hospital Internal Medicine Clinic in Columbus , MS and the Veterans Administration in Columbus , MS .
He served as an instructor in CPR for the Mississippi Heart Association and presented and discussed cases at the Baptist-Golden Triangle Hospital as part of the continuing education program.
Dr. Dill served as President of the Mississippi Society of Internal Medicine and also served as President of the Prairie Medical Society, a component of the Mississippi State Medical Association. He was also a member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Dill served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Baptist-Golden Triangle Hospital and as Chief of Staff of Columbus Hospital. Dr. Dill, along with his former partner, Frank Baird, established the first coronary care unit in North Mississippi at Columbus Hospital .
Dr. Dill was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbus, MS and served on the Administrative Board, Board of Trustees and Finance Committee. He also served as part of the volunteer medical mission to Thalamic , Mexico . Dr. Dill was a volunteer physician at Good Samaritan Clinic in Columbus , MS .
Dr. Dill is survived by his mother, Mary Dean Dill of West Point, MS, wife, Betty Oliver Dill of Columbus, MS, sons John Robert Dill of Birmingham, AL, William Brian Dill (Tina) of Brentwood, TN, brothers, Kenneth Dean Dill (Anna) of West Point, MS and John Reginald Dill (Paula) of Memphis, TN, grandchildren, John Andrew Dill, Sam Nelson Dill of Birmingham, AL, Catherine Lynn Dill and William Robert Dill of Brentwood, TN and by his aunt, Jean Dill. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
The pallbearers are George P. Boyd, Bobby L. Harper, Taylor B. Smith, Frank O. Batson, Jr., Charles E. Cole, Dr. Bradley Brown and Dr.G. O. Spencer, Jr.

Cook, William Taylor, Dr. Perrin Smith, Robert White, and nursing staff at CCU Baptist Memorial Hospital and Baptist Hospice care.
Memorial Funeral Home of Columbus, MS is in charge of arrangements and visitation will be Sunday, July 31 from 1-3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church , with the service of the celebration of life of Dr. Dill at First United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m with Rev. Anne Russell-Bradley, and Rev. Tony Proctor officiating.
