Robert Joseph "R. J." Jacobs, age 82, of Caledonia, MS, passed awayAugust 1, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at
11:00 AM
at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Tony Gallop officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Jacobs was born October 9, 1933, in Beaverton, AL, to the late Buster L. and Lela Mixon Jacobs. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Mr. Jacobs worked as a mechanic for many years at Fletcher Motor Company and Shepherd Motor Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and listening to bluegrass music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Otts Jacobs.
Survivors include his sons, Tony Jacobs of Caledonia, MS, and Greg Jacobs and his wife Janet of Caledonia, MS, daughters, Jean Wooten and her husband Roger of Melbourne, AR, and Ann Wright and her husband Billy of Caledonia, MS, brother, Gary Jacobs, Sr. and his wife Kay of Caledonia, MS, sister, Nelda Duncan and her husband Bobby of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Jennifer Moore, Chris Wright, Joey Jacobs, Tanner Jacobs, Abby Jacobs, Amber Lynn Moore, and Scottie Jacobs, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Wright, Scottie Jacobs, Joey Jacobs, Tanner Jacobs, Gary Jacobs, Jr., and Robbie Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be Barney Conn, Billy Otts, Ralph Otts, Lamar and Janette Otts, and members of the Old Wolfe Hunting Club.
