PATSY BLACK
Mary Patricia Schmitt Black age 88 died Thursday August 4, 2016, at her residence in Columbus . Memorial Services were held Wednesday August 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating.
Patsy was born on Monday July 1, 1929 in Liberal Kansas to the late August and Mildred Schmitt. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 42 years. She was a devoted homemaker, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived to take care of her family, giving of herself to meet their every need. She was a mentor to many young women who looked to her for loving, godly advice and wisdom. Some have said, “She was a Proverbs 31 woman.”
She was an expert seamstress, sewing for her many friends in the community and her beloved family. Patsy was a excellent cook. She loved preparing delicious meals for her family and friends and was always willing to try new foods and new cooking methods. Patsy was very gifted musically. She loved to play the piano for relaxation and had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang in the choir at Wesley United Methodist Church for several years until her failing health forced her to quit. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Roedell Schmitt, and her sisters, Margaret Crews, and Myrna Hansen.

MERLE BLACK
James M. Black Sr. (Merle) was born Thursday March 28, 1928 to James L. and Myrtie. He died Tuesday August 10, at his home, four days after his wife of 68 years, Patsy had died. Memorial services were held Wednesday August 11th at Wesley UMC for this couple with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating.
Merle loved his Lord, his wife and family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his grandchildren and nephews. Merle was much respected for his honesty and calm demeanor.
Merle and Patsy moved to Columbus in 1974 and became members of Wesley UMC. They were members of Wesley for 42 years. Merle served in many different positions at Wesley. Merle Black leaves a legacy of love for all people, a legacy of honesty and integrity, and a legacy of service.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the community.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents James L and Myrtie Black, Brothers Paul and Russell Black.

ten great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Madison, Megan, Morgan, Tristan, Samuel, Charles, Isla, and Lawson.
