Glayds Cline Leighton
January 11, 1923 — August 20, 2016
2016, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016,
at 11:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Shawn Nygard officiating. The
interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Leighton was born January 11, 1923, in Chickasaw County, MS, to
the late John Luke and Nolie Ann Porter Speed. She and her late husband,
Richard R. Cline, owned and operated Cline Real Estate and Insurance for
many years. Mrs. Leighton was a member of the Columbus Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents and late first husband, she was preceded in death
by her second husband, Arthur Leighton, granddaughter, Candace Cook, and
great granddaughter, Ashley Lucas.
Survivors include her son, Richard Wade Cline of Columbus, MS,
daughters, Blinda Doty of Columbus, MS, Suzanne Houck of Trussville, AL, and
Ida Lancaster and her husband Dale of Boothbay Harbor, ME, brother, Jack
Speed of Amory, MS, grandchildren, Annette Wallis, Guy Doty, Nolie Adams,
Katie Jackson, Nate Hopper, Jordan Estes, Jimmy Lancaster, and Jake
Lancaster, 16 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
