Herman Virgil Junkin
December 17, 1945 — August 22, 2016
Mr. Junkin was born December 17, 1945, in Columbus, MS, to the late Virgil and Ollie Evans Junkin. He worked for many of his early years in the grocery business at Big Star and later worked seventeen years with the City of Columbus until he was forced to retire in 2005 due to health issues. Mr. Junkins was a member of Yorkville Heights Church of Columbus.
Survivors inlcude his wife of 46 years, Brenda Mason Junkin of Steens, MS, their only child, Herman Junkin, Jr. and his wife April of Columbus, MS, twin brother, Allen Junkin of Olive Branch, MS, grandchildren, Trey Salvaggio of Fort Riley, KS, and Rachel Shelton and her husband Tanner of Amory, MS, special niece, Danielle Sharpe, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters- in- law.
Pallbearers will be Robert Johnston, Jake Mahan, Jeff Brooks, Michael Fletcher, Dale Morrow, and Jackie Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Stone, friends of the Columbus YMCA, and the members of Yorkville Heights
